"Pollphail" selected for North American premieres to South by Southwest SXSW Festival and 12th RiverRun International Film Festival 2010, plus UK screenings at Tongues on Fire and East End Film Festival 2010.
Directed by Matthew Lloyd and produced by Carina Wilson, creative documentary "Pollphail" unravels a unique and unsettling story of the imagined future of a village-in-limbo, built to great acclaim during the 1970s Scottish oil boom but never inhabited... Following it's World Premiere at the 53rd Times BFI London Film Festival 2009, the documentary has screened in-competition at the 13th Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, CPH:DOX 2009 (nominated for NEW:VISION Award), 7th World Film Festival of Bangkok, 7th Inverness Film Festival, 15th Encounters Short Film Festival, Go Short: International Short Film Festival Nijmegen and 4th Flatpack Film Festival UK.
South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual festival of interactive, film and music. Established in 1987, it has become one of the world's premiere film festivals, focusing on new directing talent. From a record number of submissions and one of only three British shorts at this years Festival, "Pollphail" has been selected for the SX Global Shorts programme: "a showcase for cutting-edge documentary shorts from around the world". SXSW takes place from the 12th to 20th March 2010 in Austin, Texas.
"Pollphail" has also been selected to Tongues on Fire: London Asian Film Festival in March 2010, followed by the 12th RiverRun International Film Festival in North Carolina from 15th April 2010, and finally the 10th East End Film Festival from 22nd April 2010.
