"At Home with the Jedi" selected to the 10th Darklight Film Festival
23 Sep 2009
R F Simpson's short documentary "At Home with the Jedi" begins its international film festival distribution with selection to the 10th Darklight Film Festival 2009.
Darklight is "Ireland's foremost celebration of art, film and technology...a glorious three-day explosion of creative performances, screenings, workshops, seminars, symposiums and visual art happenings". 2009 marks the 10th anniversary of the Darklight Film Festival, which takes place from the 8th to 11th October 2009. "At Home with the Jedi" screens out-of-competition on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th October 2009.
"At Home with the Jedi" was commissioned through the 'Bridging the Gap' scheme 2009. Filmed in a port town on the edge of a galaxy far, far away (well Wales, actually), the documentary meets two brothers who have established a Star Wars-based belief system that claims 3,000 followers. Still living at home, founder Daniel's galactic aspirations are in stark contrast to their small-town surroundings. A domestic portrait about faith, family and future, "At Home with the Jedi" meets the young founders of the UK's newest religion and reveals an extraordinary family whose hopes of salvation extend far beyond the world as we know it... Filmed and directed by R F Simpson, "At Home with the Jedi" was produced by Sarah Tierney and edited by Richard Crawford, with composition by Rob J Madin.
