"Art Against the Odds" selected to TEMPS D'IMAGES Film Award for FILMS ON ART

RF Simpson's short documentary "Art Against the Odds", featuring Prof. Ken Howard RA, selected to the TEMPS D'IMAGES Film Award for FILMS ON ART 2009.

Originally commissioned by Channel 4 for short documentary strand '3 Minute Wonder', "Art Against the Odds" followed four entrants from diverse
backgrounds as they apply for the 2009 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the largest open, competitive art show in the world.

A series seeking to understand the creative impulse of artists, "Art Against the Odds" profiled Royal Academician Prof. Ken Howard, young illustrator Alice Tait, established portrait painter Susan Ryder and emerging printmaker Andrew Miller. The series - which was filmed, edited and directed by R F Simpson and produced by Sarah Tierney - was first transmitted on Channel 4 in June 2009.

The film featuring Prof. Ken Howard RA has been selected for this years TEMPS D'IMAGES Film Award for FILMS ON ART which takes place from the 22nd October 2009 in Lisbon, Portugal.
