Clarity Productions was established in 2004 by producer Sarah Tierney, who has experience of documentary, drama and live-broadcast production. Several of these productions have been award-winning including: 2005 Oscar®-nominated short film “Little Terrorist”; 2007 BAFTA Scotland Best Short Film “Losing Myself”; and 2009 British Independent Film Award nominee “Christmas with Dad”. Sarah’s projects have screened at more than 200 international film festivals and her work featured in The Sunday Times, The Sun, The Big Issue, The List and Shooting People’s ‘Shooters Films’. Sarah is a graduate of the international EURODOC Programme 2006, attendee of the Sheffield Doc/Fest MeetMarket 2007 and BRITDOC/Sundance Institute Good Pitch 2009, an Exec Mentor on Channel 4’s RDP 2007, was nominated as Scotland’s CEC Creative Entrepreneur of the Year 2007, and is a current participating in the BBC’s XM25 scheme 2009.
Assistant Producer Carina Wilson began work with Clarity Productions in 2005 and has worked across the majority of the Company’s slate. She is a graduate of the MGEITF Fast Track Programme and the Centre of Investigative Journalism Summer School 2008. At the start of 2009, Clarity Productions welcomed Production Assistant Martin McGale and Experienced Producer/Director Stephen Bennett. After working in drama production for over five years, Stephen made the move into observational documentary in 2001. Since then, he has worked on primetime commissions for BBC (Network and Scotland), Channel 4, Discovery (UK and Network), History Channel (US) and BBC Worldwide. A self-shooter, Stephen’s projects are distinguished by strong characters and hard-won access.
Clarity Productions is also committed to working with new talent and over the last few years has worked with new directors such as Ruth Carslaw (“The Estate”, “First Cut: Alcotots” and “From This Day Forward”), Zed Nelson (“Shelter in Place”), Conor McCormack (“Christmas with Dad”), Alice Nelson (“Science Scams” and (“Losing Myself”), Joe Jenkins (“Contempt of Conscience”), Shira Pinson (“Flowers Don’t Grow Here”), Alia Ayub (“The Other Side of the Tora Bora”), Matt Milloy (“Trouble in Paradise”), Antony Butts (“After the Apocalypse”), Matt Lloyd (“Pollphail”) and R F Simpson (“At Home With The Jedi” and “Art Against the Odds”).
